Reopening the Church for Worship

Crail Parish Church is opening for WORSHIP.


Please read and familiarise yourself with these guidance notes.


Following Scottish Government Lockdown easing guidelines and of clearance from Presbytery, the Kirk Session, having overseen all necessary preventive cleaning and sanitising measures, the Church will open for weekly worship on: Sunday 6th September 2020 – service starts 9.45 AM.


“It is likely that the service will last approximately 30 minutes, and be a mixture of prayer, music, readings and teaching.”


Attendance will be limited up to a maximum of 50 persons and requires to be booked in advance by contacting:

Those unable to book a place by reason of the limit having been reached will be given priority for the following Sunday.



Please note the following – for the safety of us all.

You should not attend church if:

1. You are feeling unwell or have covid-19 symptoms 2 You or your partner or someone in the family or household/ extended family or permitted social circle is vulnerable, or is shielding. 3 You have not secured a place by booking in advance.

Should you become unwell at Church

Anyone with mild symptoms should exit the building following the advice of door staff and make their way home by their own private transport and follow HPS advice on households with possible COVID-19 infection. Anyone too unwell to make their own way home should leave the body of the church to either the vestry or vestibule on the advice of the designated door duty person, the latter to phone 999 and follow advice.


The Offering.

Owing to concerns with potential virus spread and the lifespan of the virus, especially on metal surfaces, the offering will not be taken during the service. Please leave your offering on the plates at the door.

Health and Safety requirements Congregation members who have successfully booked attendance for a Sunday Service need to be aware of the following: 1 Social distancing (2 Meters) is in operation PLEASE AVOID HAND SHAKING, HUGS, ETC. 2 You are required to bring with you and wear A FACE COVERING/ MASK for the duration of the service. You should bring your own supply of bottled water. 3 Upon arrival a designated person on duty at the front entrance will take your name and contact details and point you to the sanitisers. 4 A further designated person will accompany you to designated seating, be it for a single person or couple or family/ household grouping. 5 A ONE WAY SYSTEM will be in operation and you will be directed to strictly follow the signs. 6 At present NO SINGING OR CHANTING IS PERMITTED AND NO BIBLES OR HYMN BOOKS WILL BE AVAILABLE OR NECESSARY. 7 At the conclusion of the service you will be required to exit following the arrows and out by the south aisle. Please wait in your seat until asked by the duty elders to leave, this will allow us to manage social distancing. If you cannot manage the steps please wait until everyone has left and you will be guided out another way.


TOILET FACILITY Use of the toilet is only in an emergency as it will need to be sanitised after use.


AT ALL TIMES PLEASE KEEP A SAFE DISTANCE (2 METERS), AVOID TOUCHING SURFACES, AS WELL AS AREAS AROUND YOUR FACE, USE THE SANITISERS WHEN YOU LEAVE AND ENSURE YOU WASH YOUR HANDS AS SOON AS YOU RETURN HOME.
